Today is the release date for the new movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” here in the UK.  It’s a biographical musical film about the British rock band Queen, focusing on lead singer Freddie Mercury’s life and leading up to Queen’s Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium in 1985. The film stars Rami Malek, who has previously featured in movies such a “Night at the Museum” and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2”.  To celebrate the release of this movie, Carnaby Street is getting started early with their annual Christmas lights and stages a “Bohemian Rhapsody” themed neon lights display.

The movie’s cast gathered with band members Brian May and Roger Taylor two days ago to ignite the display, featuring the lyrics of the iconic song. I went there yesterday to take some snaps and to enjoy the happy vibe in my favourite area of London. Having spent just over half an hour in Carnaby Street to take my pictures, I must have come across at least ten or more people singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the street. Needless to say, the song stuck with me for the remainder of the evening.

Head to Carnaby Street in Soho before 4th January 2019 if you’d like to see the lights display for yourself, or check out some snaps as well as a video from the ignition below.

Some would call it art. I almost tipped my tripod over.
